
Research Associate II

Allyson Fernandez Knott, M.P.H. brings experience designing and leading research, monitoring, and evaluation initiatives across global and community health settings. Her expertise includes designing and implementing evaluation frameworks, managing research lifecycles from tool development through dissemination, and building organizational capacity for data use and learning. Her work bridges technical rigor with real-world application, ensuring that evidence is not only generated, but meaningfully used to strengthen programs and systems.
Allyson earned a Master of Public Health with a certificate in Monitoring and Evaluation and a Bachelor of Science in Health Science, both from Boston University. She has implemented research and evaluation activities in diverse contexts, including health system strengthening initiatives in Laos and the Pacific Islands, as well as contributing to USAID-funded programs in Latin America and other multi-country health efforts. Thematic areas of her work include maternal and child health and reproductive health, with a focus on strengthening service delivery, quality of care, and system performance. Her technical expertise includes applied mixed-methods research, quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis, performance measurement, and data visualization. She centers her work on participatory, community-based approaches grounded in human-centered design, prioritizing user experience and ensuring that tools and information are accessible, relevant, and responsive to the needs of the communities they are intended to serve.
Born in Costa Rica and raised in Texas, Allyson now calls Washington, DC home. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling, reading, cooking, dancing salsa, spending time with friends, and catching up on the latest TV shows.
