Decision Tree for Choosing Measures

One common question faced by program evaluators is what data collection tools or measures they will use, adapt, or develop to evaluate the process and outcomes of programming. Sometimes programs come with their own measures, sometimes existing measures can be used or adapted, and sometimes evaluators must develop their own measures. Determining which measures you should use and how you should use them is a vital first step to beginning data collection efforts. Use this measurement decision tree to decide if and how to use, develop, and/or adapt measures for your programming.
